Randi is a social worker with a master’s degree. After a heart attack so severe she clinically died, Randi was overwhelmed with medical bills but diligently paid as much as she could each month.
She felt relieved when she received word that her hospital stay was eligible to be retroactively covered by Medicaid. The hospital not only refused to bill Medicaid, but also sued Randi.
It was the hospital's billing error, but they kept sending bills through increasingly aggressive collections agencies. Randi’s NJP attorney decided to focus on fighting that lawsuit and won.
"My attorney just took over,” Randi said. “NJP shot me a big bunch of empowerment, and I just stood up and I said, “I’m going to get through this now.”
